The 2025 ATR1000 Annual Endurance Event has been run and won!
On October 26th, 2025, over 30 teams took to Mount Panorama for the Austeam Racing six-hour ACC endurance classic, tackling one of the toughest races on the sim racing calendar. The weather added another layer of challenge early on, with heavy rain in the opening hour forcing teams to switch from slicks to full wets.
At that stage, Vicmania Racing were leading the way, with Vini Carneiro behind the wheel. As the rain intensified, the team made an early driver swap, putting John Zhu in the car a strategic decision given Zhu’s wet-weather pace. This move, while smart, completely reshuffled their original race plan and they weren’t alone. The sudden change in conditions had nearly every team diving into the lane to adapt their strategy.
About 90 minutes in, the clouds began to clear and the famous Bathurst sunshine made a welcome return. Some teams elected to stay out on their worn wets, carefully seeking out puddles to cool their tyres, while others took the gamble to pit early for slicks as the track started to dry and rubber in.
As noted by commentators Chris and Zac during the SimSationalTV broadcast, the stats were fascinating, there were actually fewer incidents during the downpour than in the dry morning session. The overall standard of driving was exceptional, with great respect shown between competitors throughout the field.
When the rain cleared, the bright liveries that had shone early in the day were showing some well-earned battle scars but that only added to the spectacle. A huge shoutout goes to all the skinners and teams for their outstanding designs, which caught the eye of the SimSationalTV crew and looked fantastic on track all day.
As always, the ATR1000 delivered action-packed racing from start to finish. Even with the mix of experience levels on the grid, the driving standards were impressive, with only a handful of retirements due to contact. It was a strong reminder that in endurance racing, patience, consistency, and awareness are just as important as outright pace.
After months of preparation, coordination, and promotions, Austeam Racing is proud to call this year’s event another huge success. The live broadcast drew in a great audience, with over 225 viewers still tuned in after five and a half hours of racing, a testament to the event’s excitement and quality.
